Walla Walla is known for its rich agricultural heritage. These days, in addition to wheat and other traditional crops, wine grapes have taken center stage. Each weekend, you will find people from throughout the state flocking to Walla Walla for the well-known wine tours of the more than 50 wineries located in the area. We’ve found that the day wouldn’t be complete without a post-tour meal at Walla Walla Steak Company.
The Walla Walla historic train depot is home to both the Steak Company restaurant and their adjoining brew pub, Crossbuck Brewing. You can dine at the steakhouse, the Tap-room/brewery and for special events they even have a vintage train dinner car.
In addition to a great steak, you’ll find warm hospitality and an award-winning wine list. Impressively, Wine Enthusiast has recognized the Walla Walla Steak Company as one of the top 100 best wine restaurants.
“Recently, we’ve added a custom mobile kitchen that you will see at local events and is available for weddings and other celebrations. While covid has had an impact, we are thrilled to have our restaurant open, but with limited seating. I recommend for you to make a reservation in advance,” states Dan Thiessen, the restaurant’s managing partner.
Rob Schmidt our VP of Sales and our local rep, Skip Baker , recently had an opportunity to dine at the restaurant.
“I love a great steak. The Steak Company is my go-to restaurant when I come into town,” Rob shares enthusiastically.
The menu is rooted in the agricultural bounty of Eastern Washington. It features several different steaks including a mouth-watering Filet Mignon, a 16 ounce New York steak, available in both choice and prime grade, pan-seared Tenderloin medallions and “The Hatchet”, a whopping 34+ ounce bone-in Prime grade ribeye steak.
And for those who are not true beef-driven carnivores, the menu also has chicken, King salmon and pasta dishes. No meal would be complete without their table side flambéed Banana Foster.
